Traditional craft techniques are a handicraft tradition developed by people from generation to generation and are a significant component of the intangible cultural heritage of the globe. Chinese traditional craft techniques have a long and splendid history, occupying an important position in the development history of Chinese culture and art. Appreciating the aesthetic value of traditional craft techniques, comprehending their craftsmanship, and experiencing their cultural charm are important ways to enhance world cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. Hebi Polytechnic is located in Hebi City, the pearl of northern Henan. The Xunxian County under the administration of Hebi City is a national-level historic city with rich resources of traditional Chinese handicraft techniques. A variety of traditional handicraft techniques have been listed in the national, provincial and municipal intangible cultural heritage lists. Clay sculptures, paper cuttings, cloth tiger, sugar paintings, Yellow River ancient pottery and other traditional handicrafts are highly skilled, with obvious regional characteristics. The school attaches great importance to international cultural exchanges and international cooperation between schools. It has collaboration initiatives with foreign universities such as Smolensk State University in Russia and Sehan University in Korea, giving it a good working condition. On January 30, 2023, the school will officially launch the 10-day online group experience project of “learning about traditional craft skills, experiencing the charm of intangible cultural heritage”. The project starts with the representative traditional handicrafts of mud cluck, paper-cutting, Yellow River ancient pottery, and cloth tiger. The teaching team consists of intangible cultural heritage inheritors, Chinese teachers, art teachers and English teachers. Through a series of experience activities such as live courses, online experience, theme lectures and online visits, the project has built a platform for students to feel the charm of Chinese folk arts. It is hoped that the students can establish aesthetic awareness in the creation of beauty, enhance aesthetic experience, and feel the beauty of Chinese handicrafts, so as to truly feel the artistic feelings and cultural charm contained in traditional Chinese handicrafts.
