Xunxian County, formerly known as "Liyang", is located in the north of Henan Province, with a long history and a rich cultural heritage. The ancient relics and legacy continue and develop in this ancient and young land, forming a unique folk culture of Xunxian County. Shehuo is one of the ancient traditional folk art forms. Folk Shehuo performances are unique in terms of their practitioners, large scale, and influence. The forms of folk Shehuo performances in Xunxian County are lively and vivid, with rich contents and extremely unique artistic charm, cultural taste and strong folk custom characteristics. In October 2006, it was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage protection list of Henan Province, and in June 2008, it was included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
