Chongqing, renowned as the “City of Fog” and also famous as the “City of Mountains”, is characterized by its majestic mountains and beautiful scenery. Through ancient poems, participants will be led to experience the wonderful scenery of Chongqing; to feel the profound poetry culture of the city; and to learn the unique traditional skills of Chongqing. As a national model for poetry education, Chongqing Jihua Middle School boasts a rich poetic atmosphere and excellent teachers. This event mainly focuses on “poetry” and “art”, covering the study of the Chinese language, Chinese traditional culture, and intangible cultural skills. 1. Establish language foundation courses, using “poetry” as the medium to learn Chinese language. The six major language course systems include famous poems about Chongqing, Chongqing dialect quatrains, ancient Bashu mythological poems, interesting Chinese characters, singing to learn Chinese, and language expression: writing a modern short poem. By reciting famous poems, listening to Chongqing dialect nursery rhymes, singing Chinese songs, enjoying mythological stories, viewing Chinese character illustrations, and writing Chinese poems, students can improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities in Chinese in a step-by-step and gradual manner. 2. Appreciate Chongqing in “poetry” and observe the changes from ancient to modern times. This course involves poetic descriptions of the Bashu mountains and rivers, geography, poets and food. It shows a look at the past life of Chongqing from ancient poems and tastes its present life from the unchanging geography and the latest food trends. 3. Promote China’s intangible cultural heritage and highlight the characteristics of Bashu. The course aims to promote the poetry culture and highlight the characteristics of Bashu. Poetic discussions about the houses in the mountain city, using traditional Chongqing stilted houses as the carrier, appreciate the resilience and determination of the mountain city’s residents; poetic discussions about the tea in the mountain city, using famous Chongqing teas as the carrier, search for the poets’ spiritual refuge; poetic discussions about the “Double Ninth Festival”, realizing the customs of the Chongqing people during traditional festivals; as the “Chinese City of Poetry”, Fengjie has appeared many times on the show“Chinese Poetry Grand Slam”, and has become a business card of Chongqing’s poetry culture; the Jiulong couplets, as Chongqing’s intangible cultural heritage, inherit not only the elegant calligraphy and the good meaning of the couplets but also the profound Chinese civilization. 4. Hands-on experience of traditional Chinese crafts, enhancing learning interest. Building stilted houses, making Sichuan-Chongqing pickles, and Chinese tea art allow students to enhance their enjoyment of life by manually constructing stilted houses and pickles, and to feel tranquility and beauty through the appreciation of tea art. 5. Set up a “Virtual Tour” series to visit the unique landscape and local customs of Chongqing depicted in poems. Virtual touring leads us to Fengjie, Jinyun Mountain, Nanshan, and enjoying Chongqing hot pot online. This “virtual tour” opens the door to visit the magical Fengjie, the wonders of Jinyun, and the gracious and hospitable Chongqing people gathering around the hot pot as night falls.
