Founded as a teacher training school in 1908, Hangzhou Normal University has a history of over 110 years, which has bestowed the institution with a glorious tradition of producing first-rate teachers and educators at different levels for the whole Chinese nation. Through over a century’s development, the university has now become a comprehensive institution of higher education with a full spectrum of disciplines, covering such areas as arts and sciences, humanities, education, music, engineering, information technology, business, law, medicine and nursing. Since 1993, more than 6000 international students from more than 60 countries and regions, including South Korea, the United States, Egypt, Japan, Russia, Australia, Belgium, Mexico, Sudan, Turkey, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, have come to study in the University. At present, there are more than 400 international students are attending school. The university boasts a strong teaching faculty of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and all of the teaching faculties are of doctoral degrees and rich teaching experiences.
