Mechatronics Technology of Shandong Polytechnic College is the specialty of Shandong Higher Education Institution, the key construction specialty of Shandong Featured College for Skill-based Talents Cultivation, the pilot specialty approved by Shandong Provincial Department of Education and Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security for "dual certification and mutual recognition" between higher vocational education and technical education, a pilot specialty of “3+2” and the main specialty of Shandong. In 2017, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as a national pilot project of modern apprenticeship system, and passed the acceptance of the Ministry of Education in 2019. It is now the core specialty of Shandong intelligent manufacturing specialty group. It has won more than 50 awards in the National Higher Vocational School “Invention Cup” Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Shandong Vocational College Skills Competition “Automatic Production Line Installation and Commissioning”, Shandong University Mechanical and Electrical Products Innovation and Design Competition, Qilu University Robot Competition, CIMC China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenge hold by Ministry of Education and other competitions.
山东理工职业学院机电一体化技术专业为山东省高等学校特色专业、山东省技能型人才培养特色名校重点建设专业、山东省教育厅和省人社厅批准的高职教育与技工教育“双证互认”试点专业、“3+2”专本贯通分段培养试点专业、山东省主体专业。2017年被教育部批准为国家级现代学徒制试点项目，2019年通过教育部验收，现为山东省智能制造品牌专业群核心专业。在全国高职高专“发明杯”大学生创新创业大赛、山东省职业院校技能大赛“自动化生产线安装与调试”项目、山东省大学生机电产品创新设计竞赛、齐鲁大学生机器人大赛、教育部“西门子杯”中国智能制造挑战赛等赛项获奖50余项。
