The natural unique mineral crystal is gorgeous and delicate like an artwork given to us by the Nature. As basic units constituting rock and ore, minerals have special beauty and charm except for different characteristics of hand specimen. In this course, we can see mineral flowers consisting of leaf-like plagioclase show different colors in the visions of single-polarized light, cross-polarized light and trial panel. From the Stone Age to the tool age, from The Book of History to The Classic of Mountains and Seas, when looking through the history of mineral recognition, humans have never stop their exploration into minerals. We will generally learn the transmitted polarized microscope and the names of its all parts. Please try to “cloud”-operate the microscope with me to observe the olivine. Finally, let’s appreciate the wonderful pictures of mineral features under the lens collected home and abroad. Do they look like the Chinese diagram of the universe, dinosaur egg, fan, ancient coin, and the Chinese character “human” or colorful stripe?
