Chinese free verse (New poem) refers to the poetry genre that came into being before and after the May Fourth Movement, which is different from the classical poetry. It is a genre of poetry that uses vernacular as the basic linguistic device. The poem was composed by the famous linguist Zhao Yuanren in 1926 because of its harmonious rhyme and smooth language.
