The Song of Mulan (木兰诗) is a folk song from the North Dynasty (北朝) with extraordinary artistic status in the Chinese literature history. Being a folk song compiled into the dynastic court collections of folk songs and dances, The Song of Mulan features plain yet lively and rhythmic phrases. This course provides some elementary information on the historic background, artistic significance, literary content and reading techniques of the song. It is expected that the attendees could gain a better mastery of Chinese with the knowledge of traditional Chinese literature learned in this course.
