Qinghai traditional folk embroidery is called "Qingxiu" for short. It has a long history, unique techniques, simple style, rich variety of products, many stitches, colorful and widely used, and is a folk handicraft handed down from generation to generation by women of all ethnic groups in Qinghai. According to the data, there are about 300,000 people engaged in embroidery in the province, which is a folk art with the largest number of participants, the widest application, the longest influence and the closest relationship with the life of the people of all ethnic groups. Nowadays, Tujia pan embroidery, Huanzhong pile embroidery, Guinan Tibetan embroidery, Huanghuang embroidery, Mongolian embroidery, etc. have been listed in the national and provincial intangible cultural heritage representative list. The brand effect of the embroidery industry in the province is becoming more and more obvious, and the development mode of family-style workshops, embroidery companies + farmers, embroidery associations + farmers, etc. shows a new situation of mutual interaction and complementarity.

青海民间传统刺绣简称“青绣”。“青绣”历史悠久,手法独特,风格古朴,品类丰富,针法繁多,色彩艳丽,应用广泛,是青海各族妇女世世代代传承的民间手工艺。数据显示,目前全省约有30万人从事刺绣,是全省参与人数最多、应用最广泛、影响最长久、与各族人民群众生活最密切的一种民间艺术。

如今,土族盘绣、湟中堆绣、贵南藏绣、河湟刺绣、蒙古族刺绣等先后列入国家级、省级非物质文化遗产代表作名录。全省刺绣行业品牌效应日益显现,家庭式作坊、刺绣公司+农户、刺绣协会+农户等发展业态,呈现出了相融互动,相得益彰的新局面。
