中国成语故事
Course Syllabus 课程章节
2The Chinese language is especially rich in idioms where a suitable phrase can be found for nearly every occasion. Compared with common Chinese words and expressions, the Chinese idioms feature salient strong points, i.e. they are concise, comprehensive, vivid and forceful, and have a precise structure. Even today, these idioms still play a significant role in the daily linguistic communication of Chinese people. What is noteworthy is that the expression contained in idioms is innately linked to Chinese culture and the richness of this form of language can be greatly enhanced by an understanding of the historical background and origin of such phrases. This course aims at helping Chinese language learners gain a better understanding of the Chinese language and culture by providing the stories behind a number of commonly known idioms, many of which are now forgotten or unknown to Chinese speakers today. The idioms and their stories included in the course have not only shed light on the traditional Chinese way of thinking, but also illustrated many of its ancient customs.
