Officially founded in 1954, Kunming University of Science and Technology (KUST) is one of the top 100 universities in China, and the largest comprehensive university specializing in engineering across Yunnan province, and plays an important role in Chinese non-ferrous metal industry and regional economic and social development. KUST is the member of national “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan”, “National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western and Central China”, “International Chinese Language Think Tank Network”, Chinese Plus”, “Vice President Unit of Yunnan Language Association” and also the Demonstration Training Site of South and Southeast Asia talent. Based on its academic and geographical advantages, the university continuously strengthens international cooperation and exchange. At present, KUST has signed cooperation agreements with 110 universities and scientific research institutions in 36 countries and regions. KUST is the leader member of Yunnan-Thailand University Alliance, and co-established 3 colleges with Thai universities. Our international experts have won the “China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award” and the “Chinese Government Friendship Award”. KUST has the qualification to offer various international students teaching and training, employ international experts, and undertake HSK test, etc. It has also established Confucius Institutes/classrooms in Sweden, Denmark and Laos. KUST has sent international Chinese language teachers (including volunteers) to the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Barbados, Jordan, Latvia, South Korea, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and other countries to engage in international Chinese language teaching.
