Qingdao Agricultural University was founded in 1951. The university’s Plant & Animal Science, Agricultural Science, and Chemistry are among the top 1% of ESI in the world, and the discipline of Aquatic sciences is a "high-level discipline" in Shandong Province， as well as its Aquaculture, Plant & Animal Science (including Grass Science), are the first-class disciplines in Shandong Province. QAU has 8 disciplines, including agriculture, engineering, science, economics, management, literature, arts and law, with 25 faculties and departments, 82 undergraduate majors, 2 first-level disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees, 14 first-level disciplines authorized for master's degrees, 13 professional degree master's authorized categories, and more than 30,000 full-time students. Since 2019, QAU has been steadily ranked among the top 6 agricultural universities in China in accordance with the comprehensive ranking of the Natural Index. QAU has stuck to the “Academic, High-level, and International” principle, QAU has established collaborations with over 100 universities and scientific institutions in over 20 countries and areas, including the University of British Columbia in Canada, Wageningen University in the Netherlands, Seoul National University in South Korea, Cornell University in America, Murdoch University in Australia, and Royal Agricultural University in the UK. QAU is also among the first group of provincial universities to admit international students in Shandong province. Moreover, QAU has conducted the undergraduate-to-master program with over 20 partner universities in the USA, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and New Zealand, and set up a joint institute with Royal Agricultural University in the UK with the approval of China’s Ministry of Education and successfully enrolled the first cohort of students， and has established her international joint-training system for undergraduates, masters and Ph.D. candidates.
