Liaocheng University (LCU) is located in Liaocheng city, a national historical and cultural city in northeastern China’s Shandong province. As a comprehensive university in Shandong province and one of the first batch of application-oriented talent training universities in Shandong province, LCU hosts 34,000 full-time students on the two campuses amongst 25 schools/colleges, 9 research institutes, 79 undergraduate programs, 26 master degree programs on first-category disciplines, and another 14 professional master degree programs. LCU inherits the century-old tradition of school running, adheres to the motto of “dedication, erudition, honesty and innovation”, carries forward the spirit of “respecting education, respecting learning, being honest and striving forward”, 220,000 of its alumni working today on economic and social development at home and abroad. The university adheres to the openness in its educational philosophy, vigorously implements the strategy of internationalization, coordinating in 160 projects with more than 100 universities and research institutions in 20 countries and regions in such aspects as faculty/student exchange, joint scientific research, cooperation on PhD degree programs, and international student education. Presently foreign teachers and international students from more than 30 countries or regions work or study in the university. Furthermore, LCU co-established two Confucius Institutes at Jordan and Samoa respectively, and entrusted by China’s Ministry of Education, it dispatched faculty to Samoa and Tonga on educational aid projects. In addition, there in LCU are a multitude of research institutions including Research Center for Pacific Island Countries and Arctic Studies Center, which are becoming influential new think tanks in China. The office of the China-Pacific Island Countries Climate Action Cooperation Center is seated at the university.
