Taizhou University is located in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province.Set up and administered by both the Zhejiang provincial government and the Taizhou municipal government, with the latter one playing a dominant role in the school-running system, Taizhou University is a comprehensive university officially approved by the Ministry of Education of China. It is also a pilot demonstration school for application-oriented construction in Zhejiang Province. It has a long history of school-running. Formally known as the institution of higher learning in 1958 and Taizhou Normal College founded with the approval of the State Council of China in 1978, the history of the university could be traced back to Teachers Training Specialty of Santai High School founded in 1907. Upgraded in 2002, Taizhou University passed the undergraduate teaching level evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2008 and smoothly passed the undergraduate teaching audit evaluation by the Ministry of Education in 2018. In 2021, it was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to become a Master's degree granting organization. The university has three campuses in Jiaojiang and Linhai, covering a total area of nearly 1,600 mu, with a building area of 580,000 square meters. It owns teaching and research instrument and equipment of a total value of 480 million yuan, a collection of more than 2.3 million paper-based books in its libraries, and four directly affiliated hospitals. It has now set up 14 secondary colleges and 55 undergraduate majors, with more than 1,200 teachers and 15,000 full-time students.
台州学院，位于浙江省台州市，是一所经教育部批准建立，实行省市共管、以市为主办学体制的综合性普通高校。浙江省应用型建设试点示范学校。
台州学院办学源头上溯至1907年成立的三台中学堂简易师范科，1958年开办高等教育，1978年国务院批准建立台州师范专科学校，2002年升格为本科。2008年、2018年先后通过教育部本科教学工作水平和审核评估，2021年被国务院学位委员会批准为硕士学位授予单位。
学校分椒江、临海两地三校区办学，总占地面积近1600亩、建筑面积约58万平方米，教学科研仪器设备总值4.8亿元，馆藏纸质图书230余万册，直属附属医院4家；设有14个二级学院，55个本科专业；有教师1200余人，全日制在校生15000余人。
