Yan 'an university is the first comprehensive university named by Comrade Mao Zedong and founded by the Communist Party of China. It is now a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education and the Shaanxi provincial government, the Shaanxi high-level construction university, a key university for enrollment in Shaanxi province, and an institution that recommends outstanding fresh graduates to apply for the post-graduate qualification without examination. The school has three campuses, Xincheng, Yangjialing and Suiyuan, covering an area of more than 2800 mu with a total construction area of 1.08 million square meters. At present, there are 16,691 undergraduates, 3,106 postgraduates and 35 overseas students; 1,596 faculty members and 989 full-time teachers, including 157 professors and 371 associate professors; and 31 functional departments, 16 secondary colleges, 1 independent college and 11 affiliated hospitals; 18 master's degree programs in first-level disciplines, 6 provincial disciplines with advantages and characteristics, and 2 provincial first-class disciplines, there are 14 types of professional degree program, 61 undergraduate majors, 6 national-level and 14 provincial-level first-class professional construction sites, and 1 Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education, a Research Base for Innovative Development of red Tourism of National Tourism Administration, 16 provincial-level research platforms, 6 provincial-level innovation teams, 5 Academicians' workstations,and 2 Social Science Masters' studios. 延安大学是毛泽东同志亲自命名、中国共产党创办的第一所综合性大学。现为陕西省人民政府与教育部共建大学、陕西省高水平建设大学、陕西省一本招生院校、优秀应届本科毕业生免试攻读硕士研究生资格推荐院校。
