Beijing Jiaotong University, one of the three origins of Jiaotong University, has historical roots dating back to 1896. Its predecessor was the Railway Management Institute founded by the Qing government, which was the first higher education school specializing in training management talents in China, and the birthplace of modern railroad management and telecommunication education in China. The university has two campuses in Haidian District, Beijing, with a total area of nearly 1,000 mu and a building area of more than 1 million square meters. In Weihai City, Shandong Province, there is the Weihai Campus, covering an area of more than 1,000 mu. Beijing Jiaotong University is a national leading university directly under the Ministry of Education, jointly built by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport, Beijing Municipal People's Government and China National Railway Group Corporation. It ranks as one of the national universities of “211 Project”, “superior discipline innovation platform of 985 Project” and Double First-Class plan.
