辽东学院地处黄海之滨、鸭绿江畔，坐落在素有“英雄城市”“北国江南”美誉的中国最大最美边境城市——辽宁省丹东市，是全省唯一一所具备沿江、沿海、沿边区位特点的省属普通本科院校，是辽宁省首批转型发展试点院校、辽宁省创业教育示范学校、中国应用技术大学联盟院校、国家大学生KAB创业教育基地、全国国防教育特色学校、全国“教育部-中兴通讯ICT产教融合创新基地”第三批合作院校、教育部“校企合作创新发展联盟”院校。

学校办学发轫于1912年私立安东三育国民高等学校（园艺学校），高等教育始于1948年安东省立农业专科学校，于2003年4月组建辽东学院。校园占地总面积82.14万平方米。

学校现有教职工1660人，具有博士、硕士学位教师825人，国务院特殊津贴专家3人，省“百千万人才工程”百人层次4人、千人层次8人。现有本专科在校生14718人。

学校设立14个有全日制学生的二级学院，设置49个本科专业、22个高职专业，涵盖经济学、教育学、文学、理学、工学、农学、医学、管理学、艺术学等九个学科门类。

学校积极贯彻国家“一带一路”倡议，面向亚洲、非洲地区等国家来华留学生开设英文授课的计算机科学与技术、纺织工程、国际贸易等学士学位课程及汉语言本科课程。与韩国、日本、俄罗斯、美国等近40所国外高校开展校际和学术交流、举办合作办学项目、开展学生“2+2”等形式的联合培养交流学习项目。申办并设立“HSK”（汉语水平考试）考试点，申请并获得了招收教育部国际中文教师奖学金生资格，并陆续开展奖学金生的招收和培养。2019年与朝鲜平壤外国语大学合作共建了朝鲜第一个汉语中心，学校国际交流工作的地缘特色不断增强。

Eastern Liaoning University is located on the coast of the Yellow Sea and the Yalu River, and lies in Dandong city, Liaoning Province, the largest and most beautiful border city in China, which is renowned as "a hero city" and "a northern city as gorgeous as the southern area of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River". It is the only basic provincial public university with the geographical advantages of being along the river, along the coast and along the border. It is listed in the first batch of pilot colleges and universities for transformation and development in Liaoning province, and has won the reputations as the demonstration university of Entrepreneurship Education in Liaoning province, a member of the Association of Chinese Universities of applied Science, the national KAB entrepreneurship education base for university students, the national characteristic university for national defense education, the third batch of the cooperative universities of the innovation base for Industry-Education Integration between the Ministry of Education and Zhongxing Telecom Equipment ICT, and the member of University-Enterprise Collaboration Innovation and Development Alliance of the Ministry of Education.

The university began in 1912 as a high level private school in Andong for horticultural education and higher education started with the Andong Provincial Agricultural College in 1948. In April 2003, Eastern Liaoning University was established, covering a total area of 821,400 square meters.

There are 1,600 faculty members in the university, including 825 teachers with doctoral and master’s degrees, 3 special experts enjoying the subsidy awarded by the State Council, 4 teachers listed in top 100 and 8 teachers in top 1,000 respectively in the provincial “10 million Talents Project". At present, there are 14,718 students in the university.

The school has set up 14 secondary colleges with full-time students, 49 undergraduate majors and 22 higher vocational majors, covering nine disciplines like economics, pedagogy, literature, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management and art.

The university positively implements the national "Belt and Road Initiative" and offers English courses for bachelor's degree in computer science and technology, textile engineering, international trade and Chinese language for foreign students from Asia, Africa and other countries.  The university also carry out intercollegiate and academic exchanges, cooperative school-running programs, and joint student training and exchange programs in the form of "2+2" with nearly 40 foreign universities, including South Korea, Japan, Russia, the United States etc. HSK (Chinese proficiency Test) test site has been successfully set up and we applied for and obtained the qualification for recruiting scholarship students for the program of the international Chinese teachers of the Ministry of Education, and successively carry out the recruitment and training of scholarship students. In 2019, the first Chinese language center in North Korea was built in cooperation with Pyongyang Foreign Studies University of North Korea, which strengthened the geographical advantage for the international exchanges of the university.
