Founded in 1951, Shanxi University of Finance and Economics (SXUFE) enjoys a long history, with distinctive features. SXUFE is located in Taiyuan City, the capital of Shanxi province and a famous historical and cultural city in China, also known as the “dragon city”. SXUFE originated as Shanxi Provincial Banking Cadre School, Business Cadre School, Supply and Marketing Cooperative Cadre School, Finance Cadre School and Grains Cadre School. In September 1958, the five cadre schools were merged into one college, namely, Shanxi College of Finance and Economics (SXCFE).In December 1984, Shanxi College of Economic Management (SXCEM) was established. In October 1997, SXUFE was instituted with the merging of SXCFE and SXCEM. Over the past 70 years, SXUFE, promoting education and culture, has supplied over 220 thousand talents with different expertiseto various sectors of the society, making a great contribution to national and local social and economic development. Data published by AiruishenAlumni Network show that SXUFE is now ranked 12th among all the universities of finance and economics in China.

With economics, management, statistics and law as its advantageous and featured disciplines, SXUFE promotes a coordinated development of economics, management, law, science, engineering and liberal arts. SXUFE has now 21 teaching units, 9 university-level research institutes and 34 school-levelresearch institutes. With a teaching faculty of 1,700, SXUFE schools about 17,000 undergraduates, 4,000 Master’s Degree applicants, 200 Doctor’s Degree applicants, 10,000 continuing education students, and several dozens of international students of all types.

SXUFE has three campuses, i.e. Wucheng, Yingze and Pingyang, with a total land area of 1,956 mu (including the newDongshan Campus) and a total floor area of 600,000 m2. The libraries of SXUFE holds over 1.7 million books and 60 subscribed foreign databases. SXUFE possessesmodern teaching, research and experimental facilities, including a network and information technology center, an experimental teaching center, a stadium, an international academic exchange center, a Jin Merchants and Banking Museum, ERP laboratories, financial laboratories, accounting simulation laboratories and moot courts, of which the economics and management experimental teaching center is a national-level experimental teaching demonstration center. With these advanced hardware facilities, students are better enabled to acquire knowledge and carry out research.
