延边大学坐落在享有“教育之乡”美誉的吉林省延边朝鲜族自治州首府延吉市，是国家“双一流”建设高校、国家“211工程”重点建设大学、西部开发重点建设院校、吉林省人民政府和教育部共同重点支持建设大学、吉林省人民政府和国家民委共同重点支持建设大学。

学校始建于1949年，是中国共产党较早在少数民族地区建立的高校之一。现设有21个学院，75个本科专业；8个一级博士学位授权学科、1个二级博士学位授权学科；31个一级硕士学位授权学科、4个二级硕士学位授权学科；18个专业硕士学位授权点，4个博士后科研流动站，1个博士后科研工作站。2017年，外国语言文学学科入选国家“双一流”建设学科。此外，学校还有1个国家级重点学科，15个吉林省特色高水平学科。 

学校现有教职员工2，201人，其中专任教师1，468人，专任教师中具有博士学位的764人，具有硕士学位的615人，具有副高级以上职称的975人，聘请了包括金宁一、陈芬儿院士等在内的100多名国内外著名专家为我校高端人才、名誉教授、兼职教授和客座教授。 

学校面向全国31个省市、自治区招生，现有全日制在校学生26，704人(其中博士、硕士研究生5，391人，本科生19,232人，专科生2,081人)，来自25个国家的留学生295人。现设有东北寒区肉牛科技创新教育部工程研究中心、教育部人文社会科学重点研究基地——朝鲜•韩国研究中心等44个省部级以上科研机构，积极打造图们江论坛和长白山论坛两大国际学术论坛品牌。

学校坚持国际化战略，与29个国家和2个地区（香港，台湾）的276所院校和科研机构或国际学术组织建立了合作与交流关系。稳步发展留学生教育，获得教育部“中国政府奖学金来华留学生”接收资格。加强“国务院侨办华文教育基地”建设，成立汉语国际推广东北基地延边大学中心，并在韩国与忠北大学合作设立孔子学院。先后与俄罗斯远东大学、日本明治大学、韩国首尔大学、朝鲜金日成综合大学、瑞典斯德哥尔摩大学、美国匹兹堡大学等世界知名高校建立了校际关系，每年交流互访的专家学者近千名。

Yanbian University, located in Yanji City, capital of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province, which enjoys the reputation of "the land of education", is the country's "double-first-class" construction university, the national "211 Project" key construction university, the western development key construction university, a key university jointly supported by both the Ministry of Education and Jilin Province as well as the Jilin Provincial People’s Government and the National Ethnic Affairs Commission.

Founded in 1949, the school was one of the earliest universities established by the Communist Party of China in ethnic minority areas. It consists of 21 colleges offering 73 undergraduate specialties, which contains 8 first level disciplines authorized to offer doctorate degree, 1 second-level doctoral degree authorized disciplines, 31 first-level master's degree authorized disciplines, 4 second-level master's degree authorized disciplines, 18 professional master's degree authorization points, 4 postdoctoral research mobile stations, 1 post-doctoral research station. In 2017, foreign Chinese literature discipline was selected as the national "double-first-class" construction discipline. In addition, it has 1 key state-level disciplines and 15 Jilin Province characteristics of high-level disciplines.

The university has a faculty body of 2,201, including 1,468 full-time teachers, among whom there are 764 full-time teachers with doctorates, 615 with master's degrees, 975 with vice-senior title or above, it has also engaged over 100 noted domestic and overseas scholars and experts as its high-end talent, honorary professors, part-time professors or guest professors, including Jinning Yi, Chen Fener academicians, etc.

The university is recruiting students from 31provinces and autonomous regions. At present, there are 26,704 full-time students (including 5,391 doctoral and master's students, 19,232 undergraduates, 2,081 specialized students) and 295 international students from 25 countries. There are 44 scientific research institutions at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including the Engineering Research Center of Beef Cattle Science and Technology Innovation in the Northeast Cold Region of The Ministry of Education, the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education — The Research Center of North Korea and South Korea and so on, which actively buildsTumen River Forum and Changbaishan Forum - the two major international academic forum brands.

Adhering to its internationalization strategy, the university has established cooperation and exchanges with 276 institutions and research institutes or international academic organizations in 29 countries and 2 regions (Hong Kong, Taiwan). It has steadily developed the education of international students and obtained the qualification of the Ministry of Education for "Chinese Government Scholarships for International Students to China". What’s more, by strengthening the construction of the Chinese Language Education Base of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, it has established the Yanbian University Center for the International Promotion of Chinese Language, together with Confucius Institutes at Chungbuk University in South Korea. It also established inter-university relations with World-renowned universities such as The Far East University of Russia, Meiji University of Japan, Seoul University of South Korea, Kim Il Sung Comprehensive University of Korea, Stockholm University of Sweden and the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. Nearly 1,000 experts and scholars exchange visits every year.
