重庆理工大学创建于1940年，目前有杨家坪、花溪和两江3个校区。

学校建立了理、工、文、管、经、法、医、艺等协调发展的多学科体系。拥有省（部）级一级重点学科10个，国家级特色专业建设点4个、综合改革试点专业2个、重庆市特色专业建设项目共计30个。拥有1个国家级实验教学示范中心、1个示范性国家虚拟仿真实验教学项目。现有全日制本科生、研究生、留学生等近3万人。

学校与美国、英国、加拿大、俄罗斯、韩国、日本、泰国、越南等20多个国家或地区的高校和科研机构在科学研究、师资国际化、学生国际化及来华留学生培养等方面开展了多形式、深层次、宽领域的合作交流。分别与美国威斯康辛大学、普渡大学联合建立研究平台，合作培养国际化的高端汽车人才；不断深化重庆两江KAIST国际项目，与韩国科学技术院合作培养IT等高端人才。

Chongqing University of Technology (CQUT) ，which was founded in 1940 , has 3 campuses, namely Yangjiaping Campus, Huaxi Campus and Liangjiang Campus. 

CQUT has established a well-integrated multi-disciplinary academic system of science, engineering, literature, management, economics, law, medicine and arts currently. It has 10 first-tier key disciplines at provincial (ministerial) level, 4 national-level programs for characteristic majors, 2 pilot majors with comprehensive reform, and 30 construction projects for characteristic majors in Chongqing. Meanwhile, CQUT holds 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center and 1 demonstrative national virtual simulation experiment teaching project. With nearly 30000 full-time undergraduates, postgraduates and international students.

The university has carried out multiform, in-depth and wide-range cooperation and communication with colleges, universities and research institutions in more than 20 countries or regions in the field of scientific research, internationalization of teachers and students and foreign students training, such as the United States, Britain, Canada, Russia,  South Korea, Japan,  Thailand, Vietnam, etc. In addition, it has jointly established research platforms with the University of Wisconsin and Purdue University in the United States to cultivate international high-end automobile talents, continuously deepened  the international project KAIST in Chongqing Liangjiang Area, and cooperated with Korean Academy of Science and Technology to cultivate IT and other high-end talents.
