重庆七中是一所百年老校，建于清朝乾隆23年即公元1758年，史称东川书院，距今已有262年的历史。是重庆市办学历史最悠久的学校，从沧白纪念堂到渝中桂花园状元坊，走过长寿河街帝主宫到如今的高家花园，“四迁校址”，筚路蓝缕；历经书院时期、共立中学、重庆联中、重庆中学，直到今日之七中，“九易校名”，历经沧桑。“三大传统”，源远流长，东川风骨，代代相传，被誉为“革命胚胎之地，中原元气所存”。系原四川省首批重点中学，重庆直辖首批市级重点中学，名重西南，巴渝名校。

重庆七中本部目前占地面积86667平方米，建筑面积116024平方米。共有92个教学班，在校学生4500余人。在职教职工410人，享受国务院政府特殊津贴专家1人，特级教师6人，重庆市名师2人，西南大学等兼职硕士生导师2人，正高级教师3人，副高级教师120人，市级骨干、学科带头人25人，区级骨干教师、学科带头人25人，中级教师165人。

优质的教育是社会的期盼，更是七中的庄严承诺！近五年，我校高考中考连创佳绩，重本率基本保持在60％-70％之间；中考联招上线率也持续走高，基本保持在90％左右。2019年，高、中考考续写辉煌。高考一本上线率达到72.39%；中考普进高出，全年级联招上线达402人。

作为百年老校，重庆七中历经沧桑而始终追寻教育真谛，传承历史，不忘初心。学校现在“一校两点”，除重庆七中沙北街本部外，重庆七中磁器口校区环境优雅，安静宜学。同时集团化办学布局已经基本形成，重庆七中实验学校、重庆七中沙滨学校、重庆七中东川中学都在施工建设中。

Chongqing No. 7 High School was built in 1758 A.D., which was in emperor Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty as the name of Dongchuan Academy 262 years ago.It is the oldest high school in Chongqing. It has changed its location four times from Cangbai Memorial Hall to Champion square of Guihua Garden in Yuzhong District, from Emperor's palace, Changshou River Street to Gaojia Garden today. And it has changed its name nine times such as The Academy, Gongli High School, Chongqing United High School, Chongqing High School and as of today, Chongqing No. 7 High School. It owns “Three Traditions” which was passed for generations with the essence of Dongchuan(aka East of Sichuan) spirit and praised as “the cradle of revolution and the spirit of central China”.It was one of the first Key High Schools in Sichuan Province and one of the first Key High Schools in Chongqing after the city ascended to Chongqing Municipality. It has been well known in Sichuan and Chongqing .

Chongqing No. 7 High School upholds the ideal of “future education” and insists on the grand plan on “Development Strategy of Famous Schools”. With its diversified and multi-level education mode, the students are trained to be a new generation with “humanistic quality, scientific spirit, physical health and healthy personality”. The “Dongchuan curriculum system” with the main contents of “happiness moral education, high quality teaching, happy sports and art, effective management” , makes students grown-up, parents assured, teachers improved, the school developed, and the society be satisfied. At present, Chongqing No.7 High School Headquarters covers an area of 86，667 square meters（21.42 acres）, with a construction area of 116，024 square meters（28.67 acres）. The school has 92 classes with 4500 students. There are 410 on-the-job teaching staff, including 1 expert enjoying the special allowance of the State Council, 6 super grade teachers, 2 top teachers of Chongqing, 2 part-time master tutors of local colleges such as Southwest University, 3 senior teachers, 120 deputy senior teachers, 25 municipal backbone teachers and subject leaders, 25 district level backbone teachers and subject leaders, and 165 intermediate teachers.

Quality education is not only the expectation of the society, but also the solemn promise of No.7 Middle School! In the past five years, our school has made great achievements in the entrance examination of senior high school and college entrance examination, with the key undergraduate universities entrance rate basically maintained at 60% - 70%; the admission rate of joint entrance examination of senior high school has also continued to rise, basically maintained at about 90%. In 2019, high school and college entrance examination continued to excel. The admission rate of the first-batch college entrance examination reached 72.39%; and 402 students succeeded the city’s JAC entrance examination to key senior high in the whole grade.

As a centuries old school, Chongqing No.7 High School has gone through many vicissitudes and always pursues the essence of education, and inherits history but never forgets its original intention. The school  now has two sites, in addition to Chongqing No. 7 High School North Street headquarters, the Ciqikou campus’ environment is elegant, quiet and suitable for learning. At the same time, the group schools’ layout has been basically formed, Chongqing No.7 High School Experimental School, Chongqing No.7 High School Shabin School and Chongqing No.7 High School Dongchuan High School are under construction.
