暨南大学创办于1906年，是中国第一所由国家创办的华侨学府。暨南大学素有“华侨最高学府”之称，是目前全国境外生最多的大学，也是国家面向21世纪重点建设的100所大学之一。华文学院是暨南大学面向国内外开展华文教育、汉语国际教育及预科教育的专门学院，1993年6月经中华人民共和国国务院侨务办公室、教育部批准成立，由广州华侨学生补习学校（1953年成立）和暨南大学原对外汉语教学系（1985年成立）、预科部（1925年成立）组建而成。学院现为国家“对外汉语教学基地”“华文教育基地”及“支持周边国家汉语教学重点院校”。

Jinan University, established in 1906, is the first national university under the joint guidance of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and Education Ministry of the State Council of P. R. China. It is also the first Chinese university to enroll overseas Chinese and foreign students. With the largest number of overseas students on campus, Jinan University enjoys a well-earned reputation as the paramount academy for overseas Chinese and is one of the top 100 universities under the Key Construction Project of the 21st Century of China. The College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University (CCLC) has always dedicated itself to the education of Chinese language and culture, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages as well as the pre-university education for overseas students. In June, 1993, the college was founded by the authorization of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Education Ministry of the State Council of P. R. China, and became one of the many colleges of Jinan University. It was composed of Guangzhou Overseas Chinese School (established in 1953), Department of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language of Jinan University (established in 1985), and the Department of Pre-university Education (established in 1925). CCLC has now developed into the "National Academic Base of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language", the "National Academic Base of Chinese Language and Culture" and one of the "Key Institutions of Facilitating Chinese Teaching in Neighboring Countries".

科学研究

学院开设的“汉语国际教育”本科专业被评为广东省名牌专业，“华文教育”本科专业为广东省特色专业。暨南大学华文教育研究院成立于2012年4月28日，是全国高校中首家专业的华文教育研究院，下设华文水平测试中心、华文教材研发中心、华文教师资格认证中心、海外华语研究中心、华文教育服务平台、《华文教学与研究》编辑部等。2015年6月，暨南大学应用语言学研究院成立，下辖三个中心：语言文化生态研究中心、语言能力发展研究中心、语料库中心。学院形成了华文教育研究院和应用语言学研究院 “双发引擎”的科研格局，使学院逐渐形成两个研究院科研团队相互支持，相互促进的良好局面。

The undergraduate program of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at CCLC is conferred the title of "Distinguished Specialty of Guangdong Province". The undergraduate program of Overseas Chinese Education is known as an outstanding major in Guangdong Province. The Overseas Chinese Education Research Institute, Jinan University, established on April 28th, 2012, is the first professional Overseas Chinese Education Institute among various universities in China. There are several departments in the institute including the Chinese Testing Center, Chinese Textbook Research Center, Chinese Teacher Certificate Center, Overseas Chinese Research Center, Chinese Education Service Center and the Editorial Office of TCSOL Studies. On June 2015, the Applied Linguistics Institute of Jinan University was established, composing of the following three centers: Language and Culture Ecology Research Centre, Language Competence Development Research Centre and Corpus Centre. The two Institutes, i.e. the Chinese Education Institute and the Applied Linguistics Institute, act as two important engines in the research pattern of the College, gradually shaping it into an environment at which the two research teams is mutually supportive and reinforcing.

华文学院秉承暨南大学面向海外、面向港澳台的办学传统，为五洲学子提供从非学历语言培训到本、硕、博一体的全系列语言教育，形成了自己的办学特色和办学优势。

Adhering to Jinan University’s traditional policy of operating school, i.e. the policy of international orientation especially towards Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, the College provides a complete language education which covers from non-degree language training programs to BA/MA/PhD programs, forming its own features and advantages. 

在学历教育方面，语言学及应用语言学、海外华语及华文教学、汉语国际教育面向海内外招收全日制、兼读制博、硕士研究生；汉语国际教育、汉语言本科专业招收中国高中毕业生；华文教育、汉语言文化、汉语言商贸及汉语言旅游本科专业及方向招收高中毕业以上学历留学生。

As for degree programs, we enroll full-time and part-time doctoral, master and undergraduate candidates from home and abroad. Majors of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Overseas Chinese Language and Literature Teaching, Chinese International Education are offered to doctoral and master candidates. Majors of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages and Chinese Language are offered to Bachelor candidates from mainland China. Majors of Overseas Chinese Education, Chinese Language & Culture, Business Chinese and Tourist Chinese are offered to undergraduate candidates enrolled from overseas high school graduates.

在非学历教育方面，开设除开设汉语初、中、高级班、汉语速成班、商贸汉语班、粤语班、师资培训班、HSK强化培训班、短期汉语班、各种类型的夏（冬）令营外，近年来，增设了面向海外的华文教师证书测试班、面向国际和省港澳台地区开展的普通话专项培训、“走出去”的中华文化大乐园等项目，专设了面向7—12岁海外华裔儿童群体的“海外华人华侨青少年军”等大型项目。此外，学院开设预科班，面向中五结业以上学历的海外学生开展教学，大部分学生完成预科学习后可直升暨南大学本科。

For non-degree programs,there are courses of Preliminary Chinese, Intermediate Chinese, Advanced Chinese, Crash Chinese, Business Chinese, Cantonese, Teacher's Training, HSK Training, Short-term Chinese Training and all kinds of Winter or Summer Vacation Camps. In recent years, the College starts offering more programs, among which are training program for Overseas Chinese Language Teacher Certificate; professional Mandarin training for learners from abroad, Provincial, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas; Chinese Culture Camp launched abroad for overseas Chinese; the Scout Association of Overseas Chinese tailored to overseas Chinese aging from 7 to 12 years old, etc. In addition,there are pre-university programs for overseas graduates of Grade 11 or above. Most students of pre-university programs can successfully enter undergraduate programs of Jinan University.

办学特色

学院注重对学生语言能力的培养，每学期均安排“语言实践周”，组织留学生参加文化考察活动，举办语言技能、才艺、球类等多种竞赛以及国际美食节、文化节等。学院办学层次多样，类型丰富，在美国、德国、英国、新加坡、印度尼西亚、泰国、菲律宾等国家设置了教学点，为海内外学子提供多层次、多形式的课程选择。

CCLC emphasizes the training of students' language proficiency. We arrange Chinese Practice Week in each semester, organize cultural tours, and hold various competitions of language proficiency. Besides, various kinds of activities, such as ball games, festivals of foreign cultures and International Food Day, are popular events in CCLC. CCLC offers multi-level courses for both domestic and foreign students in the domestic  campus and the overseas teaching locations in America, England, Germany, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and other countries. These locations offer foreign students with easy access to Chinese Learning programs and multiple options for courses.

学生规模

建院以来，有10万多名海内外青少年学生、华文教师和国际友人来我院学习及研修。2017年各类学生近6765名学生（含远程教育学历生），来自 105个国家和地区。其中外籍留学生5786人，港澳台学生575人。目前享受中国政府全额奖学金的外籍留学生959人。

Since CCLC's founding, there have been over 100,000 international students studying or conducting their researches here. Many of them are overseas youths, teachers of Overseas Chinese and foreign friends in pursuit of further Chinese Learning. By 2017, there are 6765 enrolled students (including academic students of distance education) from 105 countries and districts. Among them 5786 are foreign students, 575 from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. At present, 959 foreign students are offered full scholarships from the Chinese government.
