This article mainly introduces the concepts of traditional Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. The origin of traditional Chinese medicine includes several stages, including Fuxi's Nine Needles, Shennong's Tasting of Hundred Herbs, the birth of the Yellow Emperor, and Qihuang's Doctrine. Finally, the publication of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon laid the foundation for the theory of traditional Chinese medicine. The Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon is one of the four great classics of traditional Chinese medicine. The development process of traditional Chinese medicine includes: (1) primitive period: accumulation of experience through oral transmission; (2) Pre Qin, Qin, and Han dynasties: the formation of the theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine; (3) During the Jin, Sui, and Tang dynasties, various clinical disciplines developed comprehensively; (4) During the Song, Jin, and Yuan dynasties, traditional Chinese medicine flourished; (5) Ming and Qing dynasties: innovation and invention of traditional Chinese medicine; (6) Modern and Contemporary: Competition and Convergence of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. We have summarized the honorific titles, personal names, and representative works of famous traditional Chinese medicine practitioners throughout history.
