China has been famous for its advanced technology in bridge-building in the long history of mankind. Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the world's longest cross-sea bridge, opened to public traffic on the 24th of October, 2018 is one of the masterpieces. The construction of the bridge has set quite a few records in the world of bridge-building. The container throughput of the Port of Shanghai exceeded 47 million 20-foot equivalent units in 2021, ranking first globally for 12 consecutive years, and nearly half of these containers were handled by the Yangshan port, a part of the Port of Shanghai.
