This course uses the decorative patterns of ancient bridges in Suzhou as a medium to teach students to deeply experience the symbolic connotations of Chinese traditional culture. Through Chinese language instruction, students will learn about the decorative elements of ancient Chinese bridges, interpret the symbolic meanings of the decorative patterns, and understand the implied auspiciousness, morality, and aesthetic concepts behind them. By taking this course, students will not only enhance their proficiency in the Chinese language but also gain a deeper appreciation for the charm of Chinese traditional arts and the vastness and profoundness of Chinese culture.
