During the Ming and Qing dynasties, a number of outstanding painters emerged in the Jiangnan region, such as Shen Zhou, Wen Zhengming, Dong Qichang, etc. Their work was distinctive and highly praised at the time. Driven by them, some painters who shared the same painting art concept as them also actively created, and then formed a number of famous painting schools in the Jiangnan area, such as the Wumen School of Painting and the Songjiang School of Painting. Each of these schools has its own unique artistic style and expression techniques, which jointly promoted the prosperity of Jiangnan painting, made Jiangnan painting show unique aesthetic implications, and also had an important impact on the painting art of later generations.
