This course delves into the charm of ancient villages in Jiangnan. It guides students to appreciate the historical evolution, natural and cultural elements, as well as the unique spatial pattern and protection of these villages. Starting from the spatial appreciation of ancient villages, the course introduces the distribution and characteristics of several ancient villages around Taihu Lake, such as Luxiang Ancient Village and Mingyuewan Ancient Village, showcasing their rich cultural heritage and unique landscapes. Meanwhile, the course emphasizes the importance of protecting ancient villages and proposes protection principles and contents to ensure that these precious cultural heritages are inherited and promoted. Through this course, students will be able to deeply experience the enchanting culture of Jiangnan water towns and further understand and inherit traditional Chinese culture.
