Dough modelling, commonly known as dough kneading, is a traditional Chinese folk art. It is made of flour, glutinous rice flour and other raw materials, mixed into different colors, and molded into various figures or animal images by kneading, rubbing, squeezing, pressing and clumping with hands and simple tools. In the old days, dough figurine was just a way for craftsmen to make a living from street to street. Now, dough figurine is gaining more and more attention as an art form. In this class, Yang Chunlei, the inheritor of Dezhou City's intangible cultural heritage of dough sculpture, led the students into dough sculpture art.
