In the history of world civilization, Chinese characters, together with the Egyptian hieroglyph and the Sumerian cuneiform characters, are known as the three ancient characters. However, with the evolution of history, only Chinese characters have been used continuously. Chinese characters are a system of written symbols that record Chinese language, which is gradually created in the long-term production practice. In order to let learners understand the origin and evolution of Chinese characters and fully feel the charm of Chinese characters, this course starts from legends about the origin of Chinese characters, tells the real origin of Chinese characters, and then introduces the development process of Chinese characters and the main forms of Chinese characters. At the same time, by comparing Chinese characters with other characters, learners can have a deep understanding of ideographic character properties of Chinese characters. On this basis, the importance and strategies of Chinese character learning are introduced to students.
