This lecture introduces dough sculpture. As an intangible cultural heritage, dough sculpture is a unique form of art among all folk artificial skills in China. Originated in Han Dynasty, dough sculpture has a really long history of more than 2000 years. Being colorful, delicate, and vivid, these works of dough sculpture may be gifts to promote friendship, or decorations to embellish life. Most importantly, they are the essence of traditional Chinese artificial skills, presenting people’s love for life. This lecture will show the common skills and techniques of dough sculpture by making a rose with dough.
