This lecture focuses on explaining the origins, customs, and cultural significance of China's Qingming Festival culture. Qingming, literally meaning “clear and bright”. Through this, we can understand how the transition from the natural clear and bright to the social and political clear and bright period reflects harmony between humanity and nature, as well as within society. By appreciating ancient poems such as Qingming Scene at the Su Causeway and others, we can experience how people from the past either enjoyed life, cherished their loved ones, or contemplated life's philosophies between life and death. By reciting ancient poems like The Mourning Day we can appreciate the beauty of language, rhythm, and the artistic imagery in poetry.
