The Northeast Tiger is the heaviest feline, known as the King of the Jungle. They prefer to live in pine forests far away from human beings, with flat terrain and shallow snow in winter. Due to the scarcity of food in the northern forests, Northeast tigers usually need to travel long distances to hunt, with the activity range of nearly 1,000 square kilometers. In China, there is a specialized Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park, where the Northeast Tiger inhabits. There are no artificial fountains, fitness trails, or children’s parks there, but it works as a “paradise” for those wild animals. The once endangered wild Northeast Tiger gradually increases in number with the improvement of the environment. During China’s 12th Five-Year Plan period, the planning and policy advice of Academician Ma Jianzhang’s team on the conservation of the Northeast tiger and leopard indirectly promoted the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park Pilot Program and the construction of the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park. In 2021, the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park was officially established, becoming one of the first national parks in China. This course is aimed at taking the international students on a tour of the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park to learn about the ecological habits of the Northeast tiger in China, its habitat and conservation, and to experience the harmonious coexistence between human beings and the earth’s forest ecosystems.
