Chinese folk paper-cutting has a history of more than a thousand years. The theme, content and shape of paper-cutting are closely related to people's lives, reflecting their good wishes and ideals. The folk paper-cutting of spring orchid, autumn chrysanthemum, summer lotus, winter plum each have their own style, forming two different styles of north and south. In China, paper-cutting has a history of more than 1,300 years, has the broadest mass base, and is an important part of various folk activities. Its inherited visual image and modeling form contain rich cultural and historical information, with multiple social values such as cognition, education, expression, lyricism, entertainment, and communication. In October 2009, Chinese paper-cutting was selected as the representative list of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This course explains the characteristics and forms of Chinese paper-cutting through teaching and demonstrating the overview of paper-cutting, the forms of paper-cutting, the tools and materials of paper-cutting, and the methods and steps of paper-cutting.
