Special Education college of Changchun University, jointly established by the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the Jilin Provincial People's Government, is the first domestic and also the first Asian higher education institution specializing in special education. Its establishment not only pioneered the way for the higher education of the hearing-impaired and visually-impaired groups in China, but also constructed and improved the undergraduate talent cultivation system for these groups. The university has achieved outstanding accomplishments in talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance, and international cooperation. In 2018, the university obtained the qualification to independently enroll postgraduate students, making it the institution with the largest number of postgraduate programs for disabled students in China, further enhancing the level of higher education for disabled people in China. Currently, it is the oldest, largest, and most influential higher education institution specializing in special education in China, with the highest academic standards and best educational outcomes.
