Darrentang (Tianjin Pharmaceutical Darrentang Group Corporation Limited) was founded in Tianjin in 1914. “Darrentang” is taken from the name of the founder, Mr. Le Daren. “Da” means to be accessible, understanding and sensible, and “Ren” means to be benevolent, humane and kindhearted. In the 1990s, Darrentang was recognized as a “national first-class enterprise” and “China's time-honored brand”. Many traditional Chinese medicine production techniques of Darrentang were selected into the list of China’s national intangible cultural heritage, and the “Darrentang traditional Chinese medicine culture” was included in Tianjin’s intangible cultural heritage. Weng Yue, the fourth generation successor of Tianjin Darrentang and the vice president of Darrentang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Culture, gives the foreign student a guided tour of the Tianjin Lerentang Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Museum, telling about the development history, brand story and corporate spirit of Darrentang, introducing the identification and application knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine as well as the traditional skills of collection, identification and production of traditional Chinese medicine specimens. In the conference room, Ms. Weng Yue accepted the interview of the foreign student. Ms. Weng said that ancient Chinese medicine believed that the essence of health was harmony, that is, harmony between heaven and man, harmony between mind and body, and harmony between Qi (roughly refers to the power of human organs to function) and blood. Traditional Chinese medicine contains thousands of years of health care concepts and practical experience of Chinese people, and embodies the broad wisdom of the Chinese nation. With the progress of modern science and technology, Darrentang will further inherit and innovate the traditional Chinese medicine culture, expand its influence in the world, and make contributions to the health of the Chinese people and the people of the world.
