Paper Flower is a course designed to last 50 minutes and taught in Chinese over two class periods. The paper flower is a creative art rendered through the medium of paper. The biggest highlight consists in maximizing the aesthetic property of paper as a material. Sheets of paper are cut, folded and pieced together to make a variety of works of art. For this course, the instructor spends the first class period introducing what materials to use, and how to make representation using different types of paper, with analyses and explications of specific cases. The second class period relates to hands-on experience. For example, crepe paper delivers an effect similar to artificial flowers, so it is complemented with other materials to make attractive paper flowers.
