Wickerwork is one of the traditional folk handicrafts in China. In ancient times, it was merely regarded as a daily article, and began to become popular until the late decades of the 20th century, gradually being involved in projects that were exported for earning foreign exchange in a part of regions in China. Wickerwork was listed in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list. Linyi's wickerwork is a kind of characteristic culture of the region in China, and its industry is mainly distributed on both banks of the Yishu River, which is the largest wickerwork base in the world. The Linshu County of Linyi was entitled as "the capital of wickerwork in China" by the China National Light Industry Council.
