The main content of this course is to introduce moon cakes, including the origin and implication of the custom of eating moon cakes on Mid-Autumn Festival, the types of moon cakes, characteristics of the tastes and production methods. Moon cake is a festival food eaten by Chinese people during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and it is also one of the traditional delicacies of the Han nationality in China. Eating moon cakes and appreciating the moon are indispensable customs for the Mid-Autumn Festival in the north and south of China. Traditional moon cakes are round in shape, symbolizing family reunion. The fillings inside are various, including meat, bean paste, five kernels, egg yolk, coconut and so on. Integrated with local dietary customs, moon cakes have developed into Cantonese, Jin, Beijing, Suzhou, Chaozhou and Yunnan moon cakes, which are loved by people in the north and south of China.
