Located on the north bank of the Songhua River, the Northeast Tiger Forest Park covers an area of 1.44 million square meters and has more than 700 purebred Siberian tigers bred in captivity. Since its opening to the outside world in 1996, the Northeast Tiger Forest Park has attracted tourists from home and abroad with its strong wild interest and charming charm, and receives more than 250000 tourists each year. The tiger is divided into eight subspecies, including the Amur tiger, the South China tiger, the Bengal tiger, the Indo-Chinese tiger, the Sumatran tiger, the Claw wa tiger, the Caspian tiger and the Bari tiger. The Claw wa tiger, the Caspian tiger and the Bari tiger have been extinct. As the most famous endangered species in the world, the Amur tiger was listed in the white paper of the world's protected species in the 1970s. At the same time, it is listed as Appendix I species by CITES. China has promulgated the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Wild Animals, and the Amur Tiger has been listed as the national first-class protected animal. In 1986, with the support of the Ministry of Forestry of the People's Republic of China, the "China Hengdaohezi Feline Breeding Center" was established at the Hengdaohezi Farm in Heilongjiang Province. Later, in order to better protect the endangered Amur tiger and conduct further scientific research, Heilongjiang Amur Tiger Forest Park was established in 1996. It supports and protects scientific research and wild training work by developing and utilizing the tourism and ornamental value of the Amur tiger.
