Nantong Plate Harrier is an ancient traditional handicraft and a traditional festival entertainment tool. Nantong is one of the four major kite producing areas in China, rich in plate harriers, which is unique in the country. Blue calico has a history of more than 1000 years in Nantong. Nantong Blue Calico Museum, founded in 1997 by Wu Yuanxin, is the first museum in China with a topic of blue calico integrating collection, and is the first museum in China with a topic of Blue Calico integrating collection, exhibition, education and production, collecting more than ten thousand pieces of outstanding folk products and pictures. The dyeing technique of Nantong Blue Calico was listed on the national intangible cultural heritage protection list in 2006. Nantong is often referred to as the home of blue calico printing and dyeing.
