The Chinese Character “Fu” in Chinese People’s Life

“Fu” is a very old word in Chinese. It was invented as early as more than 3,000 years ago. “Fu” initially meant praying for gods’ protection and happiness for the people and their family. As time went by, it has gradually taken on such meaning as “good luck, fortune and blessing.” Because of its implication of auspiciousness, people have developed a profoundly special feeling towards it. They write the word “Fu” in a variety of styles and poster it everywhere to express their longing for happiness.
