Before the Qin Dynasty, all Chinese characters can be categorized as Da Zhuan (Big Seal Script). Now, I will introduce the tools for calligraphy to you, which include the brush, the ink stick, the paper and the ink stone.Without contrast, there would be no art. We should follow the principles of Kai Shu. Every stroke must be presented in a rounded manner, however thin it is. Being rounded implies competence in calligraphy. Calligraphy and painting are interlinked. Chinese painting also use variation of ink shades to enhance the appeal of art works.Dots and strokes should be in harmonious combination.Variation is thickness is needed.Calligraphy works can express the writer’s mental state.
