Course Syllabus 课程章节1
This short lecture video gives a broad and brief overview of some key differences between Chinese and Western business culture. The video is designed to give overseas students a broad insight about China and how it may be different compared to the West. Drawing from the most prestigious psychological research in culture, we use the famed Hofstede model as a starting point, to look at the key cultural differences between China and the US. Next, we look into the economic structure of China and talk about the significance of national state-owned companies in China in contrast to the US economic structure which tends to be privatised. We cover the long history and strength of US multinationals whilst highlighting the reasons for why China may be falling short in this area, but why in the future there may be potential for China to become stronger in building true multinational brands. Finally, we discuss the startup culture in the US and why it may differ in China, and outlining the growing startup trend in China.
