In terms of welding technologies, SMAW is the most basic welding method. The learning of welding technologies begins with SMAW. With the SMAW process we normally start the arc by touching the workpiece with the tip of the electrode to cause a short circuit and then removing the electrode. The workpiece with the molten drop of core welding wire on the surface melts with electrode under high temperature forming a pool of molten metal (weld pool) that cools to form a joint. After acknowledging the main SMAW equipment and its basic operation in this course, you will acquire an intuitive and in-depth understanding of SMAW and operating techniques to gain mastery over SMAW initially.
