Tea originated in China and now is the most popular beverage in the world after water. Chinese tea integrates humanities and natural sciences. In terms of tea culture, it keeps a central piece of Chinese traditional culture, attaching great importance to spiritual and artistic enjoyment; in terms of tea health benefits, lots of studies have demonstrated its effects of alleviation of obesity and metabolic syndromes, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, neuroprotective effects, bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, anti-virus, anti-oxidation, and so on. It is a healthy drink with great health care value. This course focuses on Chinese traditional tea culture and modern tea scientific research to explain the origin, classification, dissemination and development of Chinese tea, helping to comprehensively understand the cultural connotation and health value of tea from a scientific perspective.

茶叶起源于中国,如今已成为仅次于水的世界第二大饮料,受到全球人民的广泛喜爱。中国茶融合了人文科学与自然科学,茶文化方面,作为为华夏文明重要的象征符号,承载着人们的精神追求和艺术享受;茶健康方面,现代研究表明的茶叶具有突出的改善肥胖和代谢综合征、预防心血管疾病、神经保护、杀菌、抗炎、抗病毒、抗氧化等作用,是极具保健价值的健康饮品。本课程着眼中华传统茶文化和现代茶科学研究,阐释了中华茶的起源、分类、传播和发展,用科学的视角全面认识茶的文化内涵和健康价值。
