Dough Sculpture, one of the traditional Chinese folk arts, has been inscribed on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Featuring elegantly crude aesthetics and distinctive local characteristics, Dough Sculpture from Shanxi conveys visual tensions through its vivid, vibrant, and colorful figurines. This course will shed light on how folk-art shifts away from the common customs from which it originates by introducing the long history of the traditional dough sculpture from Shanxi and presenting culture in a fun manner. Participants can make their own dough sculptures to effectively understand the way of thinking and values contained in the art.
