The influence of Chinese folk songs on folk instruments, rap, and opera music is self-evident, and it is a source of material that cannot be ignored for successful musical creation. The important thing is that folk songs can cultivate and shape the public’s folk music aesthetics. This course focuses on selecting representative songs from Chinese ethnic, folk and folklore songs for appreciation and analysis, experiencing China’s multi-ethnic culture through the folk songs of different ethnic groups, and experiencing the regional differences between the east and west of China and the north and south by heart. The course selects the representative repertoire of Han folk songs and minority folk songs, and explains folk songs and Chinese multi-ethnic culture from different perspectives such as melody, rhythm, lyrics, etc., as well as instrumental and vocal adaptations based on different folk song elements, etc. While experiencing the charm of traditional folk songs, we can further approach the excellent traditional culture in China, and feel the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation which has been developing and progressing with the times.
