China is the birthplace of global dragon and lion dance, since more than two thousand years of birth of dragon and lion dance, it has enjoyed high popularity amongst the broad masses, transmitted generation after generation, flourishing and enduring, and has spread all over the world along with migration of Chinese. The course expounds the origin, development process and cultural connotation of lion dancing, introduces the basic characteristics of southern and northern lion dancing, and describes the major lion dancing genres active in China and all around the world. In the process of actual practice, students will preliminarily master the basic technique, principle and dancing methods of lion dancing program, and thereby international students not only gain basic understanding about the extraordinary Chinese folk traditional culture program, but also is infiltrated by Chinese traditional folk art during learning, and the interests in Chinese traditional folk art is boosted.
