The Analects of Confucius is a quotation of Confucius and his disciples. Through this course, we can understand Confucius' era, life and thought, and think about the Enlightenment of Confucius' thought to our modern life. This course first introduces the background of Confucius' life and Confucius' life experience. Confucius lived in an era when rites and music were broken and the world was in chaos. It was Confucius' ideal to restore the rites and music system and rebuild social order. His life experience can be roughly divided into three stages: Politics in the state of Lu, traveling around the world and teaching in the state of Lu. Confucius believed that people should not give up their social responsibility under any circumstances. In second part we will give an introduction to Confucius' thought and modern significance from three aspects: the way of life, the way of politics and the way of education.
