Chinese opera is an old art with lasting charms. Since the birth of Chinese opera, its pulse of heritage has never been broken, it has been inherited till today. This is astonishing and worth proud of in the history of world drama. Learning the stage art of Chinese opera and deeply feeling the "five methods and four skills" of Chinese opera, namely "Hands, eyes, figures, hair and steps" (five methods) and "singing, speech, movement, and action" (four skills), can not only understand the essential characteristics of Chinese opera, but also enhance the appreciation of opera performance. Through the use of comparative teaching, works study, data research, opera image observation and other teaching methods, this course enables students to master the basic concepts of drama, and focus on the essential characteristics of drama, such as the virtuality, freehand brushwork and stylization, so as to deeply understand and master the ideological and aesthetic value of Chinese opera.
